Aly Khairuddin was an oil broker before she became a Pilates instructor. Weight was always a back stroy in her life. After her mother died when she was 7, her grandmother's love language was food - hence the difficult relationship she's had with food.
She started lifting weights since she was 12 years old, and has always been comfortable with strength training, and long range cardio (having completed half marathons and mini triathlons).
Discovering Pilates gave her a whole new insight into movement, so she pursued a career in this field.
But after her cancer diagnosis in 2015, she was a broken woman - overweight by 16kg, with arthiritis, menopausal, depressed and unhappy with the person she had become.
She founded the tiny first studio of FitNut Loft as a place for her to rehabilitate her broken body and soul - combining Pilates and lifting weights. But quickly found that there were so many women out there, who were 'broken' in their own way. And her passion for strength training was ignited - as Pilates is NOT known for helping women lose weight.
The magic combination of strength training, cardio, High Intensity Interval Training, Pilates and nutrition was what has been her cornerstone for a healthier life.
That's why she decided that her mission was to help other women love how they looked and feel, especially as they grew older and went through menopause. Especially as women are not comfortable or knowledgable in lifting weights.
Her credentials also include Personal Trainer with NASM, Precision Nutrition Coach, the only certified Amazing 12 Coach in Singapore.
Aly is an Australian/Malaysian who made Singapore her home in 2000. She is married to Matt, and Englishman, and has two teen daughters. Her passion is cooking - her speciality is her lasagna; and singing (she used to be a lead singer in a rock cover band).
